100 Days Smarter

The 100th day of school fell after Valentine's Day this year due to all of the snow days we have had. I love this day, it's one of my favorites. One of the things that has made it even more fun is an app called "aging booth". I take the kiddos pictures and then the app ages them, it's absolutely hilarious, unless you do it to yourself. Ahhhh! I take their photos and then they write about what they think they'll be like or do when they are 100 years old. Their answers are always so precious and innocent.
Of course the 100th day of school is entirely centered around the number 100. We made a list of 100 things we would love to have and then of course 100 things we would not want. We could to 100 at least 100 times and we did a 100 rep work out challenge...that was fun!

Valentine's Day

We had so much fun handing out Valentine's to our friends and doing some special Valentine's activities during center time. Then we got to spend the entire afternoon dancing up a storm at the roller rink during the Riverview PTO dance party. I'm telling you what...Kindergarteners have moves!

Mad Scientists

We have started our science fair project with Ms. Kent. The students are so excited because it's all about Hot Wheels! We are going to be making predictions as to how far and how fast a car will go based on the incline of the track. We are also going to be making a mega track...Ms. Kent has a plan, and we can't wait!

 Ms. Kent is introducing the topic that we are going to be exploring and informing the kiddos that it includes HOT WHEELS!!!

We also had a visit on Thursday from our friend Ms. Andrea from Life Span. She comes in once a month to teach us about fruits and vegetables. On this day we learned about root vegetables and we got to taste purple carrots. 

A Peek At Our Week

We have just jumped right back into things the last two weeks back to school. It's amazing to me every year the amount of growth they show after Christmas. They are all so excited to read and get better at it, it makes me so excited for them! They are also writing stories like you would not believe! Be on the look out for an invitation to our next Writer's Celebration.

So here we are learning Yoga in P.E. class! They are getting so good at it and are just absolutely loving it! You should ask them to teach you some moves.

On Thursday we did a lot of measuring with Unifix cubes. The last task was to measure how tall our table captains were in cubes. This allowed us to practice team work, practice our counting, and work on our measuring skills. So fun! 

Christmas Party

In our classroom it's all about the relationships we build with each other. In my opinion it should be that way in every classroom no matter what age or grade. We build these relationships all year long but it's days like party days when we get to celebrate those relationships. I LOVE snapping pics of my kiddos, who were not long ago strangers, now making so many memories together. If only the world were more like a Kindergarten classroom!! 

Candy Cane Hunt

We make learning fun in Kindergarten! My little friends came into the classroom this morning and found candy canes everywhere. Who knew that candy canes would throw 30 5 year olds into a fit of pure craziness first thing in the morning?! I'd call that a rookie mistake BUT I'm not a rookie sooooo....

Anyway, each candy cane had a number taped onto it. When it was time for us to go on our candy cane hunt each student had to find one candy cane and then find the large number card that matched the number on their candy cane. Then they had to find their place within the other numbers ordered 0-30. They did a super job and has so much fun doing it. Of course, they each got to eat their candy canes when our activity was done. 

Today I can order numbers 0-30! We rocked it out today!!  

Santa! Santa! Santa!

We got a surprise visit from Santa himself today! We think maybe our elf friend Chippy sent him. Either way, we were so super excited that he was actually here. He received many hugs and high fives! We wrote him letters today too and those will be mailed to the North Pole. We are hoping to hear back from him before Christmas.
