WOW!!

It's going to be another great year at Riverview! Our Open House tonight was AWESOME! I met so many wonderful families. I apologize if at any point it felt a little congested and HOT. I really wanted to make sure that I got to speak with every family and I know that wasn't always possible tonight. Thank you for your patience. Please know that if you have any questions or concerns you can email me at any time. 

I had a few parents ask about great school apps for their child to use at home. Here are a few that will help develop some great Kindergarten skills. 

Montessori Crosswords is great for letter sounds. 

Wet, Dry, Try is an app that correlates with our handwriting curriculum. 

Teach Me Toddler or Teach Me Kindergarten are apps that involve many fundamental skills. 

Park Math - Duck Duck Moose is wonderful for math skills. 

Bugs and Bubbles is an app that is good for letter recognition and letter writing. 

Farm 1 2 3 is good for one to one correspondence. 

Little Writer - The Tracing App for Kids is a free app and offers great opportunity to learn how to form upper and lower case letters correctly. 

Open House

In order to provide each one of you some great one on one time at Riverview's Open House, I have decided to create a schedule. Our classroom (room 1) will be open from 4-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday August 28th. See the schedule as follows.

If you are available to attend during your scheduled time then I would encourage you to do so. I would love to get to know you and your child as best as possible before the school year begins.

If you cannot make your scheduled time, no worries! There is open time from 6:00-7:30.

Meet The Teacher!

Hi! My name is Mrs. Scheible and I am going to be your Kindergarten teacher! This will be my 3rd year teaching Kindergarten at Riverview but my 7th year teaching total. I love Kindergarten and all the exploring, learning and fun we get to have!

 

I am currently working on my Master's degree in Educational Technology and I am loving everything that I am learning. I can't wait to introduce all of the things I have learned to you and your families.

 

I grew up in a small town in Ontario, Canada and I absolutely love to go home and visit. My three sisters, two nieces, two nephews, and parents still live there.

 

This summer I got to spend a lot of time with my 1 1/2 year old son Rowan and my husband. We played a lot outside, went swimming, went on a long road trip that included the zoo, an aquarium, a children's museum, the beach and a toddler amusement park. Rowan also found out this summer that he is going to be a big brother in February.

 

I am excited to spend the next year learning and (literally) growing with you!

SMART Boards for All!

Thanks to a grant our school district recieved and our school's generous PTO, all of the elementary classrooms in our school district now have a SMART board! The technology department has been very busy all summer installing these in every classroom.

A SMART board is an interactive white board that allows for students to participate in a more engaging way in lessons. You can access all kinds of fun, educational activities online and stream them through your SMART board. This will allow us to do all kinds of fun, whole group activities. It basically has turned our regular white board into a computer.
This is a very exciting thing to be happening for us and I can't wait to show it off to you all at our school's open house event.

Riverview PTO

Riverview PTO does so much for our school, our kids, and our teachers. It would be a great group for you to get involved in. It's a wonderful way to meet new families and get involved in our school. They are always searching for volunteers and voices! If you are on Facebook please join the "Riverview PTO Big Rapids" page to get tons of information and updates. Otherwise you are welcome to contact the group by talking to Mrs. Horvath in the school office. She is the current Treasurer and would be able to answer all of your questions.
