Ice Cream Sundae Day!!!

Today was the day and it was THE BEST DAY EVER!!! Well, the only thing that would have made it better was to have actually be able to eat some of the ice cream and toppings that were poured on Ms. Kent. We so ENJOYED this reward for more than doubling our fundraising goal, raising nearly $16,500 for our school. WE ROCK!!!!

Rock Star Writers

The children have named our writing club, we are officially The Rock Star Writers! We certainly have been living up to our name too. I absolutely cannot believe the writing that is coming out of this group in just 7 weeks of school. I was telling a parent today that the writing that I am seeing right now is usually not seen until December in Kindergarten. I am so proud of them and how hard they are working! Check out what rock star writers actually look like! These can be seen on our Writer's Wall to remind us how to be rock star writers!

Our very own Kindergarten Cardinal cheerleaders taught us a few cheers today and we even got to show off our cheers to the High School Homecoming Court.
GO GO CARDINALS!!!

Pattern Day

This week is School Spirit Week for the entire Big Rapids School District. Today at Riverview we celebrated with "Pattern Day". In our class we saw everything from stripes, to polka dots, to camouflage, to plaid. Even our Ferris student helper Miss Brooke joined in on the fun. We have excellent school spirit!

Fun and Fitness Day!

Last Spring, our school was supposed to host a Fun & Fitness Day but the weather was so terrible that it got rained out. Ms. Kent promised the students that she would reschedule it for a nice day in the Fall. She followed through with her promise and we got to have our Fun & Fitness Day this past Thursday.

Apple Orchard Field Trip

I am sure you have all heard about how much fun we had yesterday on our field trip to the orchard. We even got lucky enough and missed the rain! We may have felt just a few sprinkles for only a few minutes but other than that the weather was perfect for us.
We all enjoyed fresh donuts and cider to begin the day and then we rode on a wagon out to the orchard where we picked apples and gourds to take home. We then got a tour of the cider mill to see just how they make that delicious cider. I think the part we most enjoyed was feeding the goats, seeing all the amazing animals and playing on the super fun playground. Many of the students were so tuckered out, that they feel asleep on the bus on the way home. I am assuming they all slept well last night too.
THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR AMAZING PARENTS WHO JOINED US ON OUR TRIP, THE HELP YOU PROVIDED WAS SO VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!

Skyward

Please be sure parents, that you are getting set up and checking out your students' progress on Skyward. You can sign up through the main district's webpage www.brps.org. If you go to the middle of the main page you will see a link for "parents" click on that and on the drop box you will see an option for "family access application" or "family access". I will have more information regarding Skyward at our parent/teacher conferences coming up in three weeks. Please be looking for notes to come home about conferences within the next week or two.

Writers!!

Our first three friends have earned their way onto the Writer's Wall! We are all working very hard sounding out and stretching out words to label our pictures.  I am very pleased with our hard work!
