We're Learning!

Check us out, learning how to tie our shoes! Today was day #1 and it went OK. We will be working on this task all week long. Please work with your child at home on a daily basis so that they can learn before winter comes.
The other thing we really need to work on at home is writing our names. We do that a TON in Kindergarten.

Happy Constitution Day!

We have been learning all about The Pledge of Allegiance and what the words really mean. We have been practicing standing tall and proud with our right hands over our hearts.
Today we made red, white and blue hats to celebrate this special day in America. Enjoy!

Shoe Tying

I am sharing this video with you that demonstrates a "new" not so traditional way to tie your shoe. It is a great way to teach your child. We will be practicing shoe tying this way at school in the weeks to come. Our goal is to master this skill before winter strikes. My hope is that you can commit to working at home with your child as well. I also encourage you to please make sure your child has shoes with laces, if they are always wearing slip ons or velcro shoes, the inevitable is just being delayed.

Good luck and have fun!

First day of K

I am EXHAUSTED!! I know when my students left today before noon they were all exhausted too. We had a very busy, information loaded morning. We got a tour of Riverview and learned how to walk in the halls. We learned about the lunchroom routine and rules. We also learned about where we stand when we arrive at school and where we go when it's time to go home. We learned all about playground rules and boundaries. We even got to walk all the way to the other end of the building, the "big kid" end. It was a long morning. By the end though we were singing silly songs and shaking our sillies out. Tomorrow will be a normal, full Kindergarten day (rest time included).

The Night Before...

Here we go, the night before the first day of school! The night that teachers are terribly nervous and anxious and excited to be introduced to the rest of the school year. I am certainly feeling all of these emotions tonight.
I just ask that when you bring your new Kinder Cardinal to school tomorrow that you have complete faith in me and our classroom procedures. Your child is going to have so much fun and learn a ton. I can't wait for them to share all of their Kindergarten memories with you!
